The Marina of Vilamoura in the Algarve, conquered the premium Marina Of the Year 2015, which distinguishes the best marina in the world and is considered one of the Nautical Tourism Oscars, awarded jointly by The Yacht harbour Association (TYHA) and the British Marine Federation (BMF), both from the UK.

The prizes were awarded according to the results of an online poll done exclusively by the owners of vessels which visited marinas in 2014. In a statement, Vilamoura Marina explains that, as with hotels and restaurants, also the marinas are classified and qualified according to the quality and versatility of their services. A marina may be awarded between 1 and 5 Anchors (five being considered the maximum level of excellence).

For many years this marina, which in 2014 celebrated its 40th anniversary, keeps 5 Anchors, maximum score by TYHA and the BMF. Although it is the oldest in Portugal, the marina has invested in strategically adapting their infrastructure to every new need. For the Vilamoura Marina, this award is a recognition of all the work and great effort by a team that remains committed to the services it provides and takes pride in Marina forever young, renewed and betting on the future tourism.
